Every once in a while we like to add a new member to the TUTS+ family. Today we're launching AETUTS, a fantastic new tutorial site dedicated to Adobe After Effects, one of the most powerful VFX, motion graphics and video editing programs. Our contributors will be teaching you some brilliant motion graphics and special effects techniques. We'll be publishing 2 - 3 new tutorials each week, so head over to AETUTS and take a look!

Since two out of four of our TUTS+ sites are dedicated mainly to Adobe Creative Suite products it makes sense to cater to another section of Creative Suite users. We also think this will give us an opportunity to try something new and build a site around a different type of tutorials, in this case, high-definition screencasts like this tutorial from super-talented AETUTS editor Lloyd Alvarez.
Music, sound and audio is an integral part of creating compelling motion graphics and VFX, so expect many of our tutorials to explore this topic in-depth!
If you think you have the skills to create a screencast or text and image tutorial for AETUTS, it's easy to familiarize yourself with the guidelines and pitch your idea. We're hungry for user contributions and pay $150 USD for an accepted tutorial.

Great idea to have a tut site about video/motion graphics, but I wish it wasn’t just about After Effects, there are some other interesting progs out there (including freeware) that can be utilised by everyone to create some great effects, I often find it an interesting challenge to find ways of creating impressive effects using cheap or free software, often it involves using several programs, but things can be done. I wish Premier and Premier elements were also included in the site as you can do cool stuff with them also. Great idea though, I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

It’s nice to see Envato constantly expanding their business, but I also think it would be nice if they would secure advertising for this site so we can go back to 5 posts per week instead of 3. I suppose I’m biased though, because I write for AudioTUTS
Also, I expect AETUTS to be as successful as AudioTUTS, but I really doubt it will match the other TUTS sites. There’s just not as much of a market of learners for audio and visual as there is for Photoshop and web development.
