Audiotuts has readers from all around the world. Where are you from?
Each Tuesday we open our mic to readers and lurkers alike to come out of the woodwork and tell us your thoughts and opinion, your experiences and mistakes, what you love and what you hate. We want to hear from you, and here’s your chance.
Thanks to everyone who left New Years wishes in the comments over the last week. Many of the comments had an international flavor – we seem to have readers from everywhere!
What part of the world do you come from? Were you born there, or did you move? Why?
Is there anything interesting about the music where you come from? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to producing music in your country?
It will be interesting to see how wide and far-reaching our Audiotuts family is.

Hi folks!
Heavy new gear!
I was born at the French/German border in a tow called Strasbourg.Pretty much dead in matter of music.
I’ve got many contacts in Norway and Sweden, and so far I can tell you that Göteborg is a city that lives and breathes music.
If you plan to record and release a masterpiece, check out In Flames Studios in Göteborg!
Cheers/Skål!

Wow, thats quite a few countries here.
I am German by the way.
Hi
Im from Nairobi, Kenya – East Africa. Born, bred and still living here.
The music here is as distinct as the West African music is. However, ours seems to borrow a lot from central african scales/modes, especially the lingala music from Congo(Central Africa). One particular genre that has this sound is our very popular “Kapuka” and “genge” styles. These have a drum pattern that is very similar to the 90’s Raggamuffin, hence the “Ka”(snare)-”Pu”(Kick)-”Ka”(Snare) name. These are the popular contemporary styles.
There are many other variants of genres but they all borrow from the worldwide popular genres e.g. hiphop, rock, etc. Electronic music is not very popular but there is a small market and community that cater to it e.g 6am entertainment.
Thanks for creating and maintaining such useful and reliable blog.

I`m from Brazil. I was born in Belo Horizonte, land of Milton Nascimento e Toninho Horta. Viva o clube da esquina!
From Argentina, the ass of the world!!
From Canada, not living in one of the major cities (Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto) so being a musician can be tough. Many bands can’t make money playing their own music in the city I’m in, and have to resort to playing covers at bars to make any money.
Ohio, USA.
Sydney, Australia! Originally from Santiago, Chile although I’ve lived in Oz for 20 years.
