Hi Collis, congrats on the new site!
Personally I would like to see some Reason tutorials and maybe even articles on music production as a whole. Processes etc. I am a newbie to it all, so I would love Audiotuts to bring me something to help me get started. There is so much info on audio production on the net it gets confusing sometimes, it would be nice to have it all nicely explained on Audiotuts!
Hopefully some actual producers will comment on what they want, so you can get some proper feedback. But thats what I would be looking for to be honest
( )Matt Radel July 2nd
I know very little about audio, so I’ll be interested in anything you guys put out. It’d be nice to get brushed up on some terminology, maybe the differences between formats (and their uses) or even how to edit audio using different pieces of software (Audacity, GarageBand, SoundTrack Pro, etc.)
Anyway – I’m looking forward to you guys droppin’ some knowledge!
( )Lazymonkey44 July 2nd
This is not realy a Tutorial but i would be nie if you could do a list of top Garageband Alternatives for Linux and Windows.
( )Steve Forbes July 3rd
Oh, was just thinking. I would love to see some tuts based on Drum & Bass, its a kind of grey area at the moment as there is not much tuts on the net about it.
( )spadez July 3rd
When I think audio editing. I think mashups. Hook us up with a mash up tut. That would be awesome.
( )VertigoSFX July 4th
This may be a little off from the tuts standard..because you guys usually just focus on programs and how to do stuff within them. I know what thing I have had trouble with working with a friend’s setup is getting a keyboard hooked up and picking up music within any preferred program.
Reason being is that my friend got a Roland keyboard awhile back with all the bells and whistles, user settings and all that and he’s made some great stuff. Unfortunately we can’t get it to recognize the custom settings whatever they’re called. Say if he uses a setting that makes it sound like an electric guitar and makes a cool tune out of it. Then when we get it connected to a program that does audio editing it only recognizes the keyboard notes but doesn’t actually recognize the electric guitar effect he put on the song.
Stuff like that would be nice, plus some nice tuts on like music creation with loops…the possibilities with this site are endless!

Most audio work I do is usually cleaning audio (voice) for some project. Small stuff.
What are best practices for enhancing voice recordings (like equalizing sound levels,i.e. to compensate for variable distances from the microphone)?
How to properly remove echo (and how to avoid creating it).
Thanks guys.
( )Patrick July 4th
I would love some tutorials for FruityLoops, or FL studio as its called now
( )Johnnie Tech July 4th
As far as audio tuts go I would also like to see what people want as I plan on writing a few. Mainly using Reason, Pgic Pro and also how to use some free alternatives such as reaper as well and audacity. Are you looking more for full production tutorials or tutorials on little things within the production such as the post production and effect work you can do. I’ll be checking back very often and working on some things for the site as soon as possible. Hopefully I can help some people in the confusing world of audio production.
( )starseed July 4th
It would be great to see someting about sound/audio in film – with soundtrack pro for example.
( )James Robertson July 4th
Perhaps tips on mastering different types of track e.g. delay and reverb on different hat types.
( )hypermint July 4th
great site…I love all the TUTS sites. I have looked all over the internets and cant find a good tutorial on how to fix spiked audio. if anyone know how to do this in soundbooth or could put together a tut for this it would be great.
( )Ecken July 4th
Definitely need some Logic Studio tutorials. Already interested in submitting some of my own, hopefully I can get them up here. @Steve Forbes, I totally agree. I myself am a drum & bass producer, ill do my best to come up with some relevant content for a tutorial.
( )nameless July 4th
Great new site, im looking forward to new tutorials! I would also love to see a tutorial on how to make drum n bass in Reason. Ive tried and it just doesnt sound right. Show me please! Will you use Reason in you tutorials? Thats the only program i have.
( )Juan Calderón July 4th
I would like to know how to do that robo-style voice like daft punk.
( )Thanks and congrats for this new site.
Gustavo Ayres July 4th
I have an old cartoon recorded in VHS and I have encoded to watch that on my computer but the sound is horrible. I always wanted a good re-mastering tut. The would be nice
( )MarkusT July 4th
I would like to see how to make drum patterns, some basic rythms and how to sample (drum)sounds
( )Tim Knight July 4th
Nice to have another Tut site!
I’m a video editor primarily, so would love to see any tut’s that would help in sweetening sound ready for broadcast. Noise reduction, adding ambient noise and using a compressor correctly to enhance voices. So whilst I’m good with pictures, I suck with sound
Cheers!
( )tom July 4th
cheap pro-sounding home recording and mixing!!!
( )Mabel July 4th
H! I’m a music and audio technology student, and I’m so excited that this website’s up and about! I really hope to learn a whole lot more from the tutorials, and if you guys would be so helpful to teach some more interesting effects and some awesome tips about mixing, that’d be so helpful for me and my assignments!
Maybe another tutorial idea is how to use some audio programmes, giving other users an insight before they consider purchasing that software and using it for their own purposes. I, for one, have no clue how to use Reason (but I have Reason 4) or wonder if there’s an alternative to Fruity Loops for the Mac.

( )Simon July 4th
Looking a tutorial to remove singing from a song to just leave the music!
( )Adam July 4th
I would like to see maybe a tutorial for compression of kick and bass in cubase if pos!
( )Lazymonkey44 July 4th
Is it possible to get some TUTs done with Free Software (Audacity) SOme of us are cheap!
( )Jim Jones July 4th
The only tutorial I would be interested in, would be one about how to mix vocals, to get them to sound like pro vocals.
( )Preferably in Reason or Audition.
Ville Lope July 4th
I sent a short pitch about various tutorials I could do for Ableton Live, but that are also something that users of any other DAW could use.
I could also do a tutorial about harmonic mixing (DJing) and about keeping your digital DJ library in good order.
Waiting for those admins to get back at me – and eagerly waiting to get doing those tuts for you guys!
( )Matthew July 5th
I would love to see some Reason tutorials as I don’t know how to work it at all and need some help.
( )Ewout July 5th
Another great initiative! Good luck with the site!
( )Don’t have a clue for a tutorial though
raj July 5th
Love to see a demo on making programmed drums not sound so programmed. I’ve been composing with Reason and other tools for years, but most of my stuff ends up Moby-like – very ambient. If I use any drums at all, they sound way too mechanical. I only play guitar and synth, so I can’t “think” in programmed drums enough to change up the beat after a bars without it sounding ridiculous. I love a lot of the drum sounds from project bands like Delerium. As I understand it, the drum programmer is from Front 242. So it’d be cool seeing a tutorial on how to achieve the transitions over a few bars, not so much the drum sounds themselves. (Though that’d be nice too.)
( )Johnnie Tech July 5th
@Simon
Unfortunately all the tools that are available for that do a very poor job. When hearing your music it isn’t actually separated between vocals and music. They are all mixed together. If you remove the vocals, it’s not actually removing the vocals it’s removing a certain frequency within the music. When you remove the frequency, everything on that frequency gets removed as well. So to remove a whole vocal would remove a lot of the music as well.
( )Rygar July 5th
Is It Possible to Submit a Tutorial ?
I’ve got these crazy beats in my head man! and I would enjoy describing them in tutorial form, the idea would be: “Piecing Together a Simple Song with Free Demos and Download from the Web”
( )Ian M July 5th
I’d like to know how to convert music into 8-bit or 32-bit like old games consoles used to have.
( )Leslie S. Russell July 6th
I’d love to see some info on Ardour, Hydrogen, or some of the other options available for linux.
( )donnybaxter July 7th
How about a tutorial on using compression to tighten up audio in my productions? Why do i need to use compression? What are the proper procedures? Any other tips on finishing drum n bass tracks, or electronic tracks in general would be greatly appreciated. Also, links to any other online resources would be beneficial. There is never enough knowledge to be learned

A Good Start. After a long time, i’ve came across such website that dedicated to the Audio tutorials.
I suggest you should follow the same path as you’ll doing with the PSDTUTS and all.
You people can work on Tutorials for users of Fruityloops, SoundForge, Audition and others.
Making an MP3 Ringtone, Themes and understanding the tempos, if possible, beatmatching, different formats of audios, what is Normalization etc..
Its tough to get online help for the above suggested topics.
Looking forward for the best tutorials.
( )WeZ July 7th
Some tutorials on wiring (or using wireless) a studio or dj setup using MIDI or OSC.
Are there alternatives to keep an overview etc…
Thanks,
WeZ
( )JOsh July 8th

( )diddle dum dow July 8th
Hey, nice site.
I’d really like to see a tutorial on effectively using a spectrum analyser as a mastering tool.
Cheers.
( )donnybaxter July 8th
@vicky if you have a mac you can make ringtones in Garageband, however, not sure if this requires iphone…
( )Logan July 8th
Defiantly more Reason Tutorials! awesome Site!!!
( )KC July 8th
Would love to have a tutorial on how to make a guitar mix sound nice and thick for metal recording.
( )Nu Digi July 9th
What I would personally like to see… how to build a hip-hop beat 101.
( )Sally July 9th
Please put up tutorials on adobe soundbooth, i just got in that premium pack and i was wondering how you use it.
( )Randy July 11th
I’d like to see a tutorial on doing sound production on the CHEAP. A lot of youtube videos’ sound SUCKS. Some tips that would result in little to no cash spent would be awesome.
Also maybe some tips for recording in the outdoors.
Great site, thanks!
( )spadez July 15th
It would be amazing to see a tut on getting a proper voice extract
( )Justin July 15th
@spadez
Were you looking to remove the vocal so you could use the instrumental or remove instrumental so you could make a mash-up with the vocal?
( )red_star July 16th
tuts for qbase and nuendo please…
( )mamjed July 18th

( )Beaubrunb July 22nd
Hi Collis, What a great idea !
Personally I would like to see some Logic Pro tutorials, i really like this soft and my Mac !
I’m French u know. Do you imagine to translate your sites (PSD, VECTOR, NET or AUDIO TUTS) in French one of this days ?
Great Stuff
Thanks a lot
Bruno
( )aloha July 23rd
first of all, thanks for everything, your site is awesome!
( )i’d like to know if there is another way to have a “vynil pause-play” effect (i dont know if you see what i mean) without using turntables, so i can include it in some tracks?
thanks a lot
Wouter July 28th
Hello, I’m glad I found this site it seems to have a lot of potention.
Anyway I have this small request.
Would you guys be able to make a tutorial on setting up a mixer for a band? (let’s say a standard drum, lead guitar, rythm guitar, base guitar and vocals.)
And the stuff that comes around with it. The important things to remember and so on.
That would be really nice.
Grtz Wouter, Belgium
( )Krunal July 29th
I’d like to know what the best way to record audio would be. The source is a Yamaha mixer with and output to the computer’s input. I’m using the Y-splitter, what’s the best way to have flawless recording (i.e. that does it’s own auto levels, so there are no clicks if it peaks, like during a concert.)
( )kidbubble July 31st
Yo! Looking for an easier way of sidechaining in logic pro, and drum&bass focused mastering please! big up from spain to audiotuts!!Bless!
( )David August 5th
How about a tutorial on how to create your first song, simular to the final results in this tutorial
http://audiotuts.com/mixing-mastering/how-to-master-a-track-in-15-minutes-or-less/
( )Will Barrueto August 8th
Hi. Great site! What I would really like to learn how to do, for purposes such as DJing or remixing, is match my Reason redrum drum beats to an existing song.
More specifically (and I know this is 100% possible and I can’t imagine it’s too difficult) I want to be able to play a song, and match my drumming to the song. Obviously this is easily done on a real drum set, you just listen and play. But how do you do it so that it’s in sync 1:1 with the song for which we don’t know the tempo?
Please teach me!! PLEASE.

Hello,
I’m a Logic Pro (primary) and Ableton Live user. I love that you do lots of logic tutorials so far. How about some ‘cheat’ tutorials on getting a horrible sounding bedroom into an acoustically useable space. I know this means “dead”, because you can’t polish a turd, but still. Use matresses, clothes in closets, blankets, bass traps, etc. How to get a useable recording from sub par spaces basically…..
( )Shiny Box August 21st
Hi there,
Great site! Tutorials are well written, informative and nice and short as well so you don’t feel like your reading a novel before you even start doing anything!
Some synth tutorials would be nice and maybe some more effects and mixing tutorials as well.
Keep up the good work!
( )Darell August 23rd
Hey can you guys do a tutorial on how to mix and master a rap track? Preferably in Adobe Audition.
( )John August 26th
How about how to put together a band recording with each part – drums, guitar, bass, singing, keyboards, harmonica, bag pipes?, what ever instrument there may be, and including how to maximize the effect of each part, ie-using EQ, etc.
( )and also how to turn that basment room into a supurb sounding studio, with some help from our good friend the computer as well
ami August 29th
Would love to see a tutorial on getting that slow pulsating, bubbling keyboard effect that has become a downtempo electronica cliche–often heard fairly low in the mix as an accent. Logic and/or Ableton Live are the tools I use most often, but if you could explain a processing chain that would result in that type of sound, I’ll bet it would apply to lots of DAWs. Love this site, thanks so much for sharing the info wealth.
( )Daniel August 29th
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a breakdown of the 10 – 20 most commonly used synths in trance music.
I constantly find myself searching through endless banks of patches looking for “that one sound” that I’ve heard so many place before…
( )Emmett Cooke August 31st
I would love to see some arranging tutorials – jazz arranging etc. and maybe some specials on how to arrange in the style of XXX – eg. danny elfman, thomas newman etc.
( )moveair September 2nd
Hey Guys
first up nice work on this site looks nice, simple and its informative.
I agree with Shiny Box about some synth tuts but instead of the run of the mill look this is a oscillator this is a filter approach,
maybe some thats more like
( )create a mysterious the matrix style scene transition In Sound Design by W. Brent Latta
So programing a Synth with a clear goal
And I think you should focus on free synths that are mac/pc available so all could follow through
Even though I use Logic 8
Franco September 19th
Hello folks, why don’t you put a tutorial about noise reduction -and specifically in Logic Studio?
( )Joel October 12th
Hi, I would love to see a tutorial on how to create rich thick background vocals [situation being one vocalist recording all background parts] thats done in popular music today. It would be awesome if you included the panning locations & processing techniques to help such a mix!!! P.S. it would be even greater if you demonstrated via Logic Pro 8.
( )Mike October 31st
Hey!
I do love this site. I have used the tutorials to better my mixes or even create a few!
One thing I would like though is a tutorial or mastering a house or dance song. All the steps of it, including compression and noise reduction etc….
I am releasing a track in two weeks and I would like it to be perfect!
Thanks a lot.

This is an awesome site and I love the freelance concept behind it. Anyway I’d like to see tutorials about secrets deep in FL Studio. Also some more Dubstep and Hip Hop tutorials would be awesome.
( )damien December 28th
I have been looking for how to REALLY record and mix rap vocals in logic studio. The really aggressive in your face airy punch gangsta rap vocals. I have found NO BOOk to show me this and no internet specific info. BTW this is the absolute best site I have ever seen for music and am absolutely amazed. Ive learned more in one hour here than the last year!!!!!
( )Ali December 31st
I notice MANY tutorials on how to re-create a famous hip-hop track. When I’m looking for tutorials on creating dance music, it’s usually based on a making trance (which I can’t stand). PLEASE< PLEASE do some tutorials on techno, house, minimal techno, tech-house or some non-cheesy dance genre. Thanks!!
( )Filipe M January 14th
Looking foward to read a good tutorial about producing Minimal in FL
( )Jake V March 23rd
I don’t work with audio, but I’d like to start.
Are there any tutorials for Adobe Soundbooth?
( )Roy Westad July 6th
Lots of great tutorials here, but I would love to see some inspirational words on how to be more productive, finishing my ideas, and working faster. I always have good ideas, but it’s hard to put them into life. I have heaps of projects containing a 30 sec part, and I just can’t make them into finished tracks. Just a bunch of loose treads that could turn into something great if I had the discipline to finish them…
