At Audiotuts+ we irregularly put up a reader track for workshopping and critique (find out how to submit a track). This is how it works: you upload your song, and every week or so we’ll publish one here and step away from the podium. The floor is yours to talk about the track and how the artist can fix problems in and improve upon the mix and the song.
This track has been submitted for your friendly, constructive criticism. They have put their track (and their heart and soul) in your hands to learn and get useful feedback.
- Do you enjoy the song or track itself? Does it have potential?
- Can the arrangement be improved?
- How did you find the mix? What would you do differently?
- What do you enjoy about the rhythm track? What can be done to improve it?
- Is the choice of instruments relevant and effective for the style/song?
- Are the lyrics (if any) effective? Does the style, arrangement and genre of the song suit them?
- Can you suggest any specific techniques that might improve the track?
- Do you have any other constructive feedback?

like the ‘cymbals’ work, the echo fade is nice, pause was too long for taste, but i like a lot of data.. drums a bit too static for my taste, but i understand it’s a ‘genre thing. after second big break – the distorted ‘guitary’ sound create potential… and in essence this is my typical reaction: potential never quite realized. now please don’t get me wrong: i’m not saying that i deliver te goods any better or worse tan anyone else. this is such a subjective matter. do you want your music to be typical or classic or ‘sound like’ a particular genre or have the qualities of wallpaper? (not ness. a bad thing: eno does it well). or do you want it to have a quality that is yours? anyway, i hope these thoughts help.
I appreciate the feedback!
I think the pause will go by a lot faster when used in a club scenario, but it’s easy to shorten if necessary. When programming drums it’s hard to get that realistic feel of a drummer. An option could be to use groove’s taken from various loops so that they wouldn’t be as “static” if that’s what your referring to. I try to add/take away something from the drums every 8 bars which is more often than 16 to 32 bars on a usual dance track. Of course, my songs have a dance foundation to them, but it’s all up in the air after that. I like the guitar part, I think there is too much other stuff going on to really do much more with it, without taking out other elements.I definitely feel like I put my own “touch” on the mix. I would like to thank Mo Volans and Toby Pitman. I’ve read everyone of their tuts!
good !!!
the end motive i like! I would enhance the bass
keep it up
