Just because you didn’t get to go to that awesome conference doesn’t mean that you can’t still watch the lectures! Each weekend, we’ll feature a recommended audio lecture on Audiotuts+.

SoundCloud is a new online audio platform that lets music professionals receive, send and distribute their music. Primarily SoundCloud provides an efficient and simple way for music professionals to exchange music they are working on in private settings allowing for easy collaboration and communication prior to a public release.

  1. I swear by this service! It does have it’s problems but the benefits outweigh the downsides/downtime. Check me out at http://www.soundcloud.com/soundwrighpro Update coming March 3.

Soundcloud has the best audioplayer of the web.
To be able to see the waveform of the sound is just awesome.

  3. Pete says:

Ye, every musician should have SoundCloud account. I dont have one though, but I’m just a hobbyist hehe :)

  4. Soudclound is the first and the best platform for music uploads and promoting :)

  5. Gozzo says:

Great site. As stated before me, there are a few minor quibbles I have with the site as well but they’re easily overlooked. Check out mine if you’re interested in progressive electronic/experimental music.

Soundcloud is great except for the fact you can rip any track you want using a download add in for FF.

    • I wouldn’t worry about that – I was actually glad when a friend discretely told me he had to use a download plugin because the track he wanted to download had reached the maximum quota of 100! (Yes, I’m still on the free service, but do want to upgrade to a premium soon). If people are downloading your songs that’s good – now to figure out how to convert that engagement into transactions!

One thing that I would love for Soundcloud to add to their already impressive feature list is: download for email. You know, like they do at Bandcamp, so if people want to download your track for free from Soundcloud, they need to enter their email address.

Because my tracks have been downloaded (accumulatively) hundreds of times on Soundcloud – but I get no email addresses! :-(

      Cheers,

if your are serious in being signed by a record label you shouldn’t be using sound cloud for uploading your demo material. Just read the article about demo submission it explains everything…

  8. Really Soundcloud is best online audio platform,I think its better than older methods to promote music like face book, you tube because you are not sure for your music promotion. Its best audio player of web.

Soundcloud is by far the best site these days for promotion. The ease of uploading, sharing, info editing and commenting make this a winner. I myself do have a complaint however. One is that once you share a song in a group you have to search for it to unshare. This is a minor irritation but if they just added a simple link to unshare from the song’s page that would be great.

  13. Here’s some music that I’m trying to promote on SoundCloud and Facebook. Any other suggestions? I don’t tour or play live.

Soundcloud is great to see other comments of other musicians to your music BUT it´s not the best way to reach the consumers because it´s a platform for almost exlusively musicians not for musicians and non-musicians (that usually not register only to write some comments)

  16. College student at the University of Florida. Check my music out on Soundcloud! Just have some mixed tracks up right now, as well as a longer mix of some great, sick new tracks as well. If you’re into the EDM scene you should love it! Looking forward to getting more into the production side of things in the near future as well.
