Open Mic: Tell Us About the Audio Podcasts You Listen To

Learning music is a life-long occupation. One of my favorite ways of learning about music – and other things – is to listen to podcasts? What are your favorite audio podcasts?

Each Tuesday we open our mic to readers and lurkers alike to come out of the woodwork and tell us your thoughts and opinion, your experiences and mistakes, what you love and what you hate. We want to hear from you, and here’s your chance.

Which music and audio podcasts do you listen to? Which one is your favorite? Are they video or audio podcasts? How do they help?

I love the 5 magazine (http://www.5chicago.com/audio/index.html) podcast. The radio shows are funny and informative, and the “new mix Mondays” DJ mixes are always good.

  2. I’m glad this topic has been brought up as I’ve only recently discovered (in the last few months) how great podcasts can be and I’m wanting to unearth some new ones.

Some of the audio/music related ones I listen too are:

    The Sound On Sound Podcast
KCRW’s Today’s Top Tune (which I can’t recommend enough… effortless and the tunes are always great!)
Resident Advisor Podcast (you may already know of this is you are into dance music… check out the recent ‘Thompson’ one, incredible disco floor fillers!

Oh and ‘The Mac Observer’s Mac Geek Gab Enhanced’ which isn’t music related but can be interesting for a mac enthusiast!

Looking forward to being introduced to many more!

Hey Joseph, same here. I just can’t keep up, and feel old not having been up to date on podcasts until now.

I don’t listen to any, I read rather than listen, because that way I can listen to music while reading, but I can’t listen to music while listening to podcasts and I’ll probably get too distracted with other stuff to completely enjoy the podcasts.

But I’m gonna make an effort, especially since Sound on Sound has a podcast!

I’ve been listening to these podcasts from a few years to a few months or so and they’re all highly recommended!! well worth checking out.

The Home Recording Show (i’ve been listening to these guys the longest and its through them that i’ve both learnt a lot and discovered everyone else)

    The Home Studio Corner

    Sessions With Slau

    Ronan’s Recording Show

And also Radio 1′s Zane Lowe’s Hottest Records, pretty good for checking out new music.

One that I started listening to that is not (usually) music related is Top Ten Whatever.
Intruiguing but informal discussion on random top ten lists.
