Lots of the comments on this article seemed focused on the mechanics of DAW software and samples. But I most enjoyed the lesson on how to fill but not overload the conceptual space that makes a song. Thanks again for good work!

Fyi, I've been using the very different Tracktion, so the nice Reasons screens, while interesting, did not bias me toward my positive comment :-)

@ Ali, it all boils down to the quality of your samples and mastering. Make sure you download, buy, and/or record only the best samples, and master each channel in Reason independently for the ultimate mix once you are ready to master all of the channels on the ReMix mixer together (i.e. if you are on the guitars channel, you will need to run EQ on it and perhaps some compression if it is sounding off or clipping; on the flipside, you could add some maximizer if it is not loud enough or some imager if it is not wide enough).

Great tut, Joel! Keep it up, bud! :)
Enjoy!

Good tut on arranging. Thanks!

It would be better next time to include before and after snippets for each step of the way. I'd love to hear what the drums sound like alone, both with and without the reverb for example.
