I would definitely advise all the TAL synths - by far the best free vst's
Big sound and very deep
Also Anti's team : Taurus - very good emulation

I Use :

TAL - synths,vocoder,and effects........nice :)(and all FREE)
IMPoscar
Taurus (free)
Minimogue VA (free)
Wahnsyn VST - very nice for authentic strings
Kjaerhus.....Classic Series(free)
Golden Series.......first time i used them i was hooked - warm and natural sound

Also a very good investment are the D16 plugs.....definitely the BOMB drumcomputer-emulations (Roland's 909/808/606/303 + some very good effects)
Never heard drums that fat on a PC :) yezzzzzz
Enjoy folks

Anyone here tried Zynaddsubfx it's available as a vsti for windows, it very nice pads, the interface is a little daunting but if you spend some time with it you'll find it's incredibly versatile.

HELIX ISN'T FREE! It only has a free trial which generates a random pitch, makes noise every 5 seconds, and you can't save.

MEANING HELIX ISN'T FREEWARE, IT IS SHAREWARE. Get your facts straight.
