No offends Joel, but this sounds like plastic and is very far from being a punchy beat.
The hats and bass drum are at the constant volume and that spoils everything. I think the goal was to create a beat using Reason, but I think this is just not the correct host for that.

Doing the drums in Ableton Live 7 (using Drum Rack, or other plug-in like BFD2 or Superior Drummer) would take the same amound of time, but you will have more control over what you are doing.

cool trick w/the scream 4. i have a trick for you, too. don't bother with two reverbs or all that crazy wiring in the back. just click on your mixer and add your reverb to it. do the same with scream 4. now adjust the mixer aux send/receive 1 right on the drum channel and add reverb to the whole drum machine. now go down to reddrum and adjust its aux send/receive 2 on the snares to add scream to just the snares. this way is more efficient, requires no wiring, and lets you re-use the reverb and snare elsewhere. you could also keep the reverb off on the mixer channel aux 1 and adjust it for each instrument on reddrum, but i agree with your logic of having the same room reverb for one instrument. still, aux send/receive effects are a good trick to learn!

Extremely helpful tutorial...I'm new to music production...period, and have been dabbling with Reason 4...this tut has definitely helped me understand how to arrange using Redrum. I really needed this knowledge. This site ROCKS!!! More tutorials on Reason...I hope. I really would like to learn various uses for Thor and ReGroove...Thanx for sharing.

Dan: there will be plenty of tuts in the future that cover things like that—this one is for people who just want to figure out how to program a beat using Reason's built-in tools.

Okay, good...since it's a new feature in Reason 4.0, there's not too much material out there on it. I know the basics of it but controlling the exact sound is still kinda tough. I usually just do it by ear.
