Generating Drum Fills With VST Livecut In Cubase 4

“Livecut” by Smartelectronix is a VST beatslicer effect. It re-arranges the incoming audio in real time and is a great tool for generating drum’n'bass type drum fills from existing audio or VST drum loops. However, the output can seem a little unpredictable. In this tutorial we’re going to look at using Livecut to generate some fills from an audio drum loop. We will then edit the results, and with a bit of cutting and pasting create something more subtle.

The overall quality/style of this tut is low. You might want to rework this tut — voiceover is always a good start and remove all the hisssssssss in the audio. Hard to take a tutorial about working with audio seriously when the tut’s audio sounds so bad.

Weak. The tut is fine, you bag of whine. Ha! I’m a poet and I didn’t even realize it. The content is weak. I can program better and more unique drums in that amount of time. It’s 4/4. C’mon. I understand it though. Kudos, for showing the workings. I did like the reverse on that end slice. Good little tidbit. The minion is kind of fun as well. Keep at it. – E3
