In this tutorial Mo Volans teaches you a great technique for taming your reverb: Dynamic Reverb Returns. Here we demonstrate with Logic Pro, but the technique works in most other DAWs.

I haven’t used much side chaining but I like this idea for effects returns. Trying it straight away!

Very cool technique. I’ve used side-chains to create many types of effects. I’ve also put all sorts of dynamics on my returns. This technique, however, creates something both interesting and refreshing.

    Thanks for the tip, Mo!

This is a great little compressor. I especially LOVE the ‘attack’ button which easily will polish out artifacts…an essential trick in the mix.

Great tutorial – but the section where you can select the input for the sidechain doesn’t exist when I launch Pro-C in Ableton Live…..??

Is it possible to set this up on a return track in Ableton that has reverb on it?

If so can someone explain how – I’ve searched for tutorials and I can only see that you can redirect the channels “Audio to”, but then this wn’t work the same way the effect in this tutorial does….

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

Great tutorial. But what really blows me away is that really great sounding reverb. Unfortunately it’s a bit over my financial limits.
