Chance you can share your samples?

Unfortunately I can’t share samples I don’t have the rights to, but there are some great ones on the boyinaband forums for free, I highly recommend dropping the money on Xfer however!

Nice vid. Totally agree that most people seem to over-complicate this. Forums are full of long tuts on how to process snares for layering. However, the technique described in this tut works well if you have professional-grade samples that have already been pre-eq-ed/compressed/bounced, etc. But when starting with raw 909, or 808 stuff, I’ve found it’s necessary to process the samples first before layering. I know everyone uses the vengeance kits, but they are $$$, and it’s kind of fun to wring them out yourself. For me, the raw samples out of those classic drum kits just sound a bit flat, and need some polishing :)

BTW, if any of you guys are making drum and bass, layering with a really resonant tom, instead of another kick is a great way to get some low-end on the snare, without it sounding like another kick drum….

    Nice Tut, great website!

You can also use the track ‘delay’ instead of moving them. Go to the right side and click on the “D” and have a mess around the different ms to delay the sound.
